Death of Mrs. J.C. Barker.
Mrs. J.C. Barker died Thursday, March 11, at her home in Fontana, aged 79 years. She was a resident of the East Mount Zion neighborhood and La Cygne for a good many years previously to moving to Fontana and has many friends here to mourn her loss.
Carintha Miller was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, August 31, 1846. She became a member of the M.E. church in girlhood and remained a faithful follower of Christ until death. She was married to Joseph C. Barker November 8, 1880, at Mt. Zion, Iowa, and to them four children were born, two boys and twin girls-Lee Roy, Marvin, Lucy and Luella. She leaves the husband, one son, Lee Roy Barker, Kansas City, and six grandchildren, Roberta, Leola and Helen Barker of Kansas City; and Nina, Paul and Josephine Barker of Grand Junction, Colo.; one sister, Jennie E. Rullman, of Eddyville, Iowa; and one brother, John W. Miller, of Lake Valley, N.M.
Funeral services were held Saturday at East Mount Zion, conducted by Rev. G.D. Lane, and burial was in East Mount Zion cemetery.
