Birmingham - Mrs. Lester Lindsay, 39, died Jan. 8 in Jefferson County hospital, Fairfield, after a long period of declining health.
The former Gladys Elizabeth Howard, she was born on a farm northeast of Mt. Zion on Sept. 15, 1911, the daughter of S.R. and Lena Wiley Howard. She attended school at Keosauqua, being graduated in 1931. She lived in the Mt. Zion vicinity until 1944, when she moved with her parents to Birmingham. On Dec. 29, 1946 she was married to Lester Lindsay, who survives. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Lindsay is survived by her parents; a sister, Mrs. Lena Pearl Woolever, Sacramento, Calif., and 6 brothers: Percy Howard, Birmingham; Harold, Sraig(?), Wendell and Forest Howard, all of Sacramento, and Richard Howard, Denver, Colo.
Last rites will be held at the Presbyterian church at 2 p.m. Thursday. Rev. Howard C. Irvine will officiate, and burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery.
