MRS. MYRTLE BAUMAN
Myrtle G., daughter of Romey?? and Rachel Close Morse, was born Oct. 30, 1860, at La Motte, Iowa, and was called to her reward April 23rd, 1931.
She was married June 23, 1881, at La Motte, to Samuel H. Bauman to this union were born six children, one son dying in infancy. Those surviving with the husband are Mrs. Bernice Workman of Mt. Zion, Fred M. Bauman of Birmingham, Mrs. Florence Campbell of Mt. Zion, Mrs. Ruth Graham of Berkley, Calif., and Mrs. Rachel Dwyer of Kansas City, Mo.
She was one of eight children, three of whom died in infancy. Her mother passed away April 19, 1898. The death of Mrs. Bauman is the first to break the circle of an unusually strong bond of family ties of brothers and sisters. Those remaining are: Mrs. Agnes Wilson and Mrs. Viola Edwards of Walker, Iowa, Gail H. Morse of Estherville, Iowa, and J.C. Morse of Portland, Ore.
Her ancestry dates back to the early years of American history several of whom served in French and Indian wars, and the war of thte(sp) Revolution.

Birmingham was her home for many years, where she endeared herself to young and old by her many civic and religious activities and which she took a great interest. She had often expressed(sp) herself as wanting to be active to the last and a power higher than her ours granted her wish.
She was a member of the Presbyterian church and the teacher of the Ladies S.S. class. She belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Iowa Ladies Legislative League.
Her greatest joy was maintaining her home and being able to keep in constant contact with her children and grandchildren, their interest being always hers.
The funeral service was held in the Presbyterian church on Friday afternoon, April 24th, in charge of the pastor, Rev. H.C. Irvine, at the church was filled to capacity with loving and sorrowing friends. interment in Maple Hill cemetery.
