--A shocking tragedy was an event in Henry county Wednesday evening of last week. It was at Trenton, resulting in the death a man aged forty-five and his niece, a handsome girl of sixteen. While under the murderous influence of a insane jealously, Perry Elliott grasped a rifle and aiming deliberately at the fair head of his niece, Ethel Kelly, across the street, sent a a bullet plunging through the target, then putting another through his own bosom, wiped out his own worthless life with that of one of Trenton's fairest daughters.

The tragedy was as unexpected as it was terrible. Elliott, to all appearances, had fallen desperately in love with his neice and became jealous of every attention paid her. It was stated that the girl shunned Elliott and told her friends of his annoying conduct, but he never expressed an apprehension of violence on his part. Miss Kelly was visiting her friend, Edna Morrison. Across the street lives Elliott. The two girls were in the yard conversing. Suddenly a rifle shot rant out and Miss Kelly fell to the ground, blood flowing from a small hole in the nick behind the right ear. Death was instantaneous. Elliott fired the shot from his open doorway. A moment later a second shot was heard and investigation proved Elliott had shot himself in the heart. The dead girl was a great fovorite(sp) in Trenton.
