MRS. J.S. BELL
**Handwritten: 1931

Alzadia Miller, second daughter of George and Eliza Miller, was born on a farm near Mt. Zion, Iowa, March 23, 1859, and died at her home in Keosauqua Jan. 24th, 1931, being at the time of her death 71 years, 10 months and 1 day.

On June 5, 1881, she was united in marriage with James S. Bell. To this union seven children were born, Walter who died in infancy, Carl at home, Clair at Des Moines, Rena, Mrs. Roy Langford at Centerville, Homer of Des Moines, Mary, Mrs. Roscoe McNamar of Des Moines, and Annie, who died in infancy. They first established their home at Leandon, Iowa, later moving to Kansas, where they lived for about three and a half years when they returned to Leando. In 1904 they moved to Keosauqua where they continued to reside. Here she proudly watched the progress of her children through the public school, as well as all their activities in church work.

In health she was an untiring worker in the Methodist church of which she was a member from early girlhood, transferring her membershihp here when she moved here to make her home. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge also.

She had a keen sense of religious duty and she made no compromise. Of her faith in God and His promises she gave testimony in her every day life. To her religion was not something to pur on and off. She wore it every day. She was a teacher in the Sunday School as long as she ws able to attend. She was teacher of the adult ladies class here for fourteen years. When failing health deprived her of the privilege of Sunday's public worship she accepted the situation without complain and worshipped at home. She was truly a Christian home-maker, and in this home she reared her family in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

She was a kind neighbor, a devoted companion and a loving mother, and by all will be keenly missed. She was looking forward to the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary this coming June, when she was planning for a family reunion, but the reunion was around her death bed as she quietly slipped away for a reunion with her two little ones, Walter and Annie and a host of other dear ones over there.

Besides her companion and the sons and daughters mentioned above she is survived by six grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Mary Wiley, and one brother, Hyson Miller, both of Leando, Iowa, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Sheaves after sowing-sun after rain,
Light after mystery-peace after pain.
Joy after sorrow-calm after blast,
Rest after weariness-sweet rest at last.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 26th, at the M.E. church in Keosauqua in charge of her pastor, Rev. Hayes. Interment in the Purdom cemetery.
