Death Takes Craig Pettit

MOUNT STERLING - Craig Pettit, 78, retired Van Buren County farmer, died at 6:40 a.m. today at the Park View Care Center in Fairfield.

All of his life was spent on the farm near Mount Sterling where he was born Jan. 11, 1895. He was the son of Albert and Jennie Craig Pettit.

Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Mount Sterling United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edward Philgren officiating. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery. The body is at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Pettit was a graduate of Gem City Business College and Iowa State University. He was married to Dorothy Jennings in 1925. She died in 1956.

Surviving are two children, Dean Pettit, Fairfield, and Mrs. Helen Rogers, Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren and one brother, Dr. Stanley Pettit, Cleveland, Tenn.

Pettit was a veteran of World War I and a charter member of both of Keosauqua American Legion Post and the Van Buren County Farm Bureau. He was a president of the Van Buren Telephone Co.
