OBITUARY
**Handwritten: 1933Mrs. Francis Harryman
Lucy Annie Brewster, eldest daughter of Hardin and Mary Frances Brewster, was born in Vernon Township, Van Buren county, Iowa, May 27, 1871. She departed this life Monday, April 13, 1933, after a lingering illness, aged 61 years, 11 months, 13 days. She received her education in the rural school and attended high school at Keosauqua. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church, at Center Chapel at an early age, later transferring her membership to the Leando Methodist church. She was an active member of the Leando Ladies Aid and encouraged and helped her children to become regular church workers. She kept the faith unto the end. She loved God's word, and toward the end, when too weak to read, requested members of the family to read from it to her.
On October 21, 1908, she was united in marriage to Francis S. Harryman by Rev. Thorn, pastor of the Keosauqua Methodist church, coming into a home where there were six motherless children, ranging in age from 12 years to 18 months, and became a loving and dear mother to all of them. To this union three children were born, Mary K., Lucien W., and Josephine Annie, all of whom survive. Also she is survived by her husband and the six step-children, Harvy H., Dewy F., Joseph M., Ruth, Esther, and Harold; one sister Mrs. C.B. Finn, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; six brothers, Oscar Brewster, of Bonaparte, Harvy, Arthur, and Clyde Brewster, of Keosauqua, Howard Brewster, of Boulder, Colorado, and Oran Brewster, of Fort Collins, Colorado; nine grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.
She was a devoted wife, a kind and loving mother, and will be sadly missed by her home and community.
