SHOT FATAL TO ELDON LAD
**Handwritten: Oct 1919MICHAEL A. RUSSELL DIES AS RE- RESULT OF HUNTING ACCIDENT
Efforts to save the life of Michael Albert Russel, 14 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert M. Russell of Eldon, proved unavailing and the boy who was shot while hunting Monday evening at Eldon, died at 2:30 a.m. today at St. Joseph's hospital.
Besides his parents, one sister, Margaret, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Russell of Eldon and grandmother, Mrs. Ida Hellyer of Rock Island, Ill., survive him.
The lad with Roy Bates, also of Eldon was hunting in a boat on the river at Eldon Monday afternoon and in getting out of the gun caught on the side of the craft and a charge of shot struck the boy in the abdomen. He was rushed to St. Joseph's hospital here and an operation performed to save his life, but without avail.
The body was removed this morning to the Moroney funeral home and taken overland to Eldon this afternoon. The time of the funeral will be announced later.
