Mary June Ream.

Mary June, daughter of Sydnor Calvin and Dora Mae Ream, was born Sept. 2, 1917, on what is know as the B.S. Ream farm, and departed this life at the Ottumwa hospital on March 13, 1934, at the age of 16 years, 5 months and 14 days.

At the age of 6 years she started to school at the Brick school near her birthplace and continued there until she was eight years of age, at which time she moved with her parents to Keosauqua where she entered school and has continued her schooling since that time. She was a member of the junior class of Keosauqua high school. She was greatly interested in the various activities and was a member of the girls; glee club, the girls' basketball team and the school dramatic club.

In 1930 she united with the Keosauqua Methodist church during the pastorate of Rev. M.D. Cox. She was a member of the Epworth League, Standard Bearer society and a substitute teacher of the primary class in the Sunday school. She was in regular attendance at all the church services and activities.

Besides her grief stricken father and mother, she is survived by her only brother, Halsey Calvin Ream of near Marshalltown, her step-grandfather, L.K. Savage of Keosauqua, one nephew and two nieces, besides other relatives and a host of friends, both old and young.

She was a model child and gave her parents no worry which is now a source of great consolation.

Her sudden passing is not only a shock to the family but to the entire community. We will miss her cheery smile. It is not ours to question Providence but to accept it as His will.

Funeral services were held from the Keosauqua Methodist church on Thursday, March 15, at 2 p.m. in charge of the pastor, Rev. M.E. Hayes. Interment in the Purdom cemetery.
