**Handwritten: 1924

Phoeba Ann, daughter of Wesley and Susannah Horn, was born in Fountain County, Indiana, April 11, 1837 and departed this life Sept. 30, 1924, at the home of her daughter near Leando, aged 87 years, 5 months and 19 days.

She was one of a family of ten children. She came to Davis County, Iowa, with her parents in 1849 and the family established a home on a farm about ten miles southeast of Bloomfield. In 1863 she was married to Thomas House, who passed away in 1882. To this union three children were born, the eldest daughter, Mrs. Luella Creasey, preceded her in death in 1917.

In 1901 she was married to James M. Penney. They made their home in Eldon for a time, then moved to Leando where her home has been ever since. Mr. Penney preceded her in death five years.

She became a member of the Baptist church of Dunnbille, Davis county, Iowa, early in life and always continued in that faith. She was a devoted friend and neighbor, ever present in time of sickness and trouble, one who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn their loss, two daughters, Mrs. Etta McCollum and Mrs. Susie Wirt, both of Douds, three brothers, Riley Horn of Enders, Neb.; Thomas Horn of Douds, and Frank Horn of Keosauqua; four step-children: Mrs. C.H. Graham of Birmingham; Mrs. Ralph Stoops of Centralia, Wash.; Mrs. Harry Holton of Chicago, and Leslie Penney of Omaha, Neb.; nine grandchildren and 8 step-grand children, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the M.E. church in Leando Thursday at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. C.L. Ellis of Blakesburg and burial was in the Leando cemetery.
