OBITUARIES.
**Handwritten: April 3, 1933In the following article is given the obituaries of J.S. Bell and two sons.
John Stanley Bell was born near Keosauqua, Iowa, March 4, 1874. He was the son of John R. and Elmira Bell. He was united with the Christian Church in Keosauqua in 1896, and upon moving to Valley Junction in 1899, transferred his membership to the church there.
He was employed with the Rock Island Railway Company for 31 years, being retired from service in the fall of 1929. Since that time he has served the community as justice of the peace for over two years. He also served on the school board for six years, being president of the board for a great share of the time.
He was affiliated with Gnemeth Lodge, No. 577 A.F. and A.M., Des Moines Consistory No. 3 and the Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engimen.
He leaves his wife, two sons, Dr. Stanley C. Bell of Grand Island, Neb., Dr. Robert R. Bell of Clinton, Iowa, two daughters, Mrs. R.C. Chittenden and Mrs. F.W. Sarles of Cincinnati, Ohio, two sisters, Mrs. George Shepherd of Chester, Mont., and Carrie M. Bell of Des Moines; a brother, James Franklin Bell of Fairfield, Iowa; four grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends.
Byron Lyle Bell was born in Valley Junction, Jan. 21, 1911, the son of John and Lena Bell. He was educated in the local schools, graduating from Valley High in 1928. He also graduated from the Capital City Commerical college in Des Moines in 1932.
He became a member of the Valley Junction Church of Christ in December, 1924. He was a member of the Madoc Chapter of the Order of the De Molay of Valley Junction.
Jess Rodney Bell was born in Valley Junction July 25, 1913. He was educated in the local schools, graduating from high school in 1930. He also had attended the State University of Iowa. He was a member of the Order of De Molay of Valley Junction.
The two brothers leave their mother, two brothers, two sisters, three aunts, one uncle and other relatives and friends.
