OBITUARY
**Handwritten: 1930John Gilbert
John Gilbert, son of James and Elizabeth Gilbert was born near Kilbourne, Iowa, December 27, 1860, and departed this life, at his home the evening of July 2nd, 1930, after an illness of some months. All that could be done was done, but to no avail, "His mission on earth was done," he was called away. He was married to Mattie Ranard, April 3, 1889; to this union were born one son, Fred, who with his wife moved to the home sometime ago to assist in the care of his father. The Bible says: "We will be rewarded for our good deeds." This being so, his reward will be great because of his life service and kind deeds for others. He is survived by his wife, son, Fred, daughter-in-law, Mabel; one sister, Mahala Mercer; two brothers Edwin and Sam Gilbert, all of Kilbourne and many other relatives and friends who mourn his departure.

Happy in his home life.
He will be sadly missed.
