Brett E. Barker, 33, 903 S. Seventh St., died at 7:41 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 1996, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, following a construction accident earlier in the day at Cedar Falls.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with burial in Pittsburg Cemetery west of Keosauqua. Open visitation will begin at noon Friday at the funeral home, with the family present from 7 to 8 that night. Memorials may be left at the funeral home.
Barker was born Oct. 12, 1962, in Newton, the son of Donald and Marty Scotton Barker. He attended school in Keosauqua and lived his life in Keosauqua and Fairfield. He was a steel building erector for Schaus-Vorhies Contracting Co. in Fairfield. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and St. Louis Cardinal fan, and played the guitar.
Surviving are a son, Brandon of Birmingham; his companion, Tammy Poole of Fairfield; his parents of Fairfield; two sisters, Melinda Spates of Keosauqua, Becky Keller of Bloomfield; two brothers, Steve of Fairfield, Quintin of Alto, Ga.; and two grandmothers, Ruth Jones and Ruth Barker, both of Keosauqua.
