HANNA A. PORTER.

Hanna A. Porter was born in Kilbourne, June 18, 1857, and died at her home in Eldon June 20, 1898. She was married to S.H. Allman in November 1885. To this union were born five children, little Freddie having preceded his mother to the Spirit Jan. 1. Of the remaining, Flossie, aged 12, Nellie, eight, Manly, five and little Minnie, only 13 months are left to mourn their loss of a loving mother. She was in deed a devoted mother. She expressed a great desire to live to see her children grown. In speaking of her desire to live, she said to the writer, "I do not want to live for life's pleasures. I want to live for life's duties." And in speaking to Rev. Barker, her ?????? regard to dying, she said "I am not afraid to die. My faith is in Jesus. He is my comforter." She joined the M.E. church when quite young and in her sickness, and death she knew in whom she trusted.

During the time she had made her home in Eldon, by her amiable disposition, had won the love and confidence of many of the good people there, and well did they prove it by their many acts of kindness during her sickness, which was long and painful. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Barker in the M.E. church in Eldon. A large gathering of relatives and friends were in attendance.
