MORTUARY.Elizabeth Ann Meek, eldest daughter of Robert and Mary Ann Meek, was born in Bonaparte, Iowa, July 6, 1839. She was married to Joseph Sanders April 8, 1854. To them eight children were born, five sons and three daughters; of these, two sons and one daughter have departed this life. Deceased began life the years after Iowa ceased to be a part of Wisconsin territory, and witnessed the remarkable changes that have taken place in the transforming of this locality from a wilderness to its present advanced state of Christian civilization. Her home has always been in Bonaparte and vicinity. She has shared the joys and sorrows of it people, and ministered to the suffering, proving herself an affectionate companion and mother, a trustworthy friend and an obliging neighbor. She was a member of the Bonaparte Presbyterian church having united with it in February, 1897, and died looking for the reward that awaits the faithful Christian. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, three sons, two daughters, one sister, five brothers and a number of grand children. She died at her home in Bonaparte Monday evening, June 18, 1900, having completed in life 60 years, 11 months and 12 days.
