Elsie M. Barker

Elsie M. Barker, 78, of Route 1, died at 4:55 a.m. Friday, July 5, 1991, at Nelson Nursing Home.

Barker was born April 20, 1913, in Mahaska County, the daughter of Earl and Mary Scarborough Ferguson. She married Fred A Barker Dec. 31, 1934.

A homemaker, she lived most of her life in Jefferson County.

Surviving are her husband of Fairfield; four daughters, Martha and Alice Barker, both of Fairfield; Marie Carter of Hillsboro; Nancy Oldfield of Wellman; two sons, Jim and John Barker, both of Fairfield; two grandchildren; and one brother, Edwin Ferguson of Keosauqua.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Mary, one son, Jackie, two brothers, Don and Stanley Ferguson, and one sister, Helen Ferguson.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Behner Funeral Home, Fairfield, the Rev. Charles McCracken officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham.

Family visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Saturday. Memorials have been established to the family and Maple Hill Cemetery.
