STEADMAN
Elmira, Lucretia, daughter of James and Mariah Steadman, was born at Peace Dale, Rhode Island, October 13, 1837. She came to Columbus, Van Buren county Iowa, with her parents when she was about 5 years old, afterwards to Bonaparte where she lived continually until her death. She united with the Baptist church in the winter of 1860 and 61 during a revival held by Rev. Samuel Pickard under the pastorate of Rev. William Eggleston, and has always held to that faith, being a member of that church at the time of her death. Her mother died when she was quite young. Her father departed this life April 4, 1895. Her step-mother and several of her family remain to mourn their loss. She departed this life March 10, 1900, having lived 62 years, 4 months, 27 days.
The funeral occurred from her late home on Sunday March 11, 1900, Rev. G. W. Barber, of Farmington, conducting the service.
