OBITUARIES.
**Handwritten: 1901

Aletha Beswick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.T. Beswick, was born two miles southwest of Stockport, Van Buren county, Iowa, Nov. 11, 1877, and died at the parental home in Stockport, Friday, June 28, 1901, aged 23 years, 7 months and 17 days. Her parents and one brother Charles Leroy, survive. From her birth until 1892 she remained at home, then went to Des Moines, where she attended the conservatory of music in Highland Park college for two years. She then came home and taught music for two years. In 1896 she returned to Des Moines and attended the music department of the Darke University for three years, graduating in 1899.

After graduating she came home where she remained until January 9, 1901, when it was found necessary for her to undergo a surgical operation, for which she was taken to the hospital at Keokuk. After twenty-four seeks of intense but patient suffering she passed from life to eternity. She united with the Christian church Sept. 8, 1894, and was a devoted member until her death.

The funeral was held at the Christian church at Stockport at 11 a.m., Sunday, June 30, the attendance being very large, many more than the church would hold. Eld. A.F. Saunderson, of Keokuk, preached the sermon. Her life has gone from among us, but her memory will ever be fresh as the early morning bloom.
