Mr. Thomas P. Henry of Bonaparte died Tuesday morning of rheumatism, from which he had been a severe sufferer several years. Deceased was about 58 years of age. He was a son of Sylvester Henry, and we believe was bosn(sp) in this county. He enlisted May 1, 1861, in the Second Iowa Infantry, and veteranized Dec. 28, 1863, as sergeant in the same regiment. He was wounded at Corinth. He was a brave and gallant soldier.

After the war his home was in Vernon township until two or three years ago he moved to Bonaparte. He had been a justice of the peace and filled other township offices. He had good native ability and was well informed. He was impulsive and possed strong individuality, which sometimes led to antagonisms; but his motives and intions were upright and honest.

For several years he had been severely afflicted, and elicited the sympathy of all. The funeral will be held today under the auspices of the G.A.R., and the remains will be sent to Davenport this evening to be cremated, in compliance with his wish.
