Lucille Elizabeth Baldwin, 87, of Parkview Care Center, died at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 1996, at Parkview.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Nina Pulane officiating. The body will be cremated following the service, with burial at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham. Open visitation begins at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to Bethel Cemetery Association.
Ms. Baldwin was born Dec. 13, 1908, in Birmingham, the daughter of Garfield and Mayme Belle Lawson Baldwin. She was raised in the Bethel community near Birmingham and graduated from Birmingham High School in 1927. She graduated from the Jefferson County School of Nursing in 1930. On April 29, 1932, she married Robert A. Kessel in Fairfield. He died Dec. 27, 1962.
During the war, they lived in Boise, Idaho, where they were engaged in defense work. She had been employed at Behner Funeral Home, Turner Hotel and the Fairfield Library Museum.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews. A brother, Dean Baldwin, and a sister, Bernice Unkrich, preceded her in death.
