DEATH AND BURIAL OF MRS. WAYNE BROWN
Mrs. S.M. Brown of this place died in a retreat at Des Moines, where she had been a patient for several weeks, on Saturday, July 19. The body was brought to her home here Monday evening, Mr. Burnett, the undertaker, having driven his funeral care to Des Moines to get the body.
Mrs. Brown's death followed a long illness, filled with suffering. She was a good woman, loved not only by her family but also by a large circle of friends, and her death brings sorrow to many hearts.
Lina Brown, daughter of Thomas Jefferson Beer and Deborah Beer, was born Nov. 18, 1855, in Van Buren county, Iowa. She lived in Van Buren county all of her life except one year spent in Dakota. On October 24, 1877, she was united in marriage to S.M. Brown, who survives her. To this union were born three sons and one daughter: John M. Brown and Otto L. Brown of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Wm. A. Brown of Klein, Montana, and Mary D. Brown, who died in infancy.
She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters: Colonel Beer of Kingsburg, Cal.; Butler Beer of Des Moines, Mrs. Wm. Taylor of Kersev, Colo, and Mrs. Waitman Robinson of Bonaparte, Iowa.
About 20 years ago she united with the Keosauqua Christian church and in her earlier life was a member of the M.C. church.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian church by the pastor, J.M. Hedges, Tuesday, July 22, 1919, at 2:30 o'clock, and interment made in Purdom cemetery.
