Death of a Pioneer

Sidney C. Stebbins, for many years a resident of Bonaparte, died Monday, Dec. 9, of old age. He was born in Geneva, N.Y., in 1830, being 82 years of age at the time of his death. He came west in an early day and was one of the pioneers of Van Buren county. He was married to Miss Barto. To them seven children were born, three sons and four daughters. Those left to mourn their loss are T.A. Stebbins of Fort Madison, Hiram Stebbins of Keokuk, Mrs. Fannie Cantril of West Point, Mrs. Alice Bennett of Blue Mound, Ill, Margaret Stebbins of Hoboken, N.J., and Charles and Mary of Bonaparte. The funeral was held Dec. 11. Interment in the Bonaparte cemetery.
