William C. Wilson.

William C. Wilson, son of Irvin and Leanna Wilson was born December 17, 1830, being one of thirteen children. He came with his parents to Van Buren county, Iowa, in 1833 where he remained until twenty-one years of age.

He then made a trip to California with an ox team going all the wasy on foot. After much privation while there, he returned by way of Panama.

In 1854 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Martha Jane Woods. They made their home on a farm one mile southeast of Bonaparte on the south bank of the Des Moines river. While living there six children were born to them, viz., W.R. Wilson of Lacon, Ill; Mrs. Alice Meredith, Frank Wilson, and Mrs. Hannah Sanders, of Bonaprte; William of Keokuk; and Mrs. Kate Bell who died a few months ago at Keokuk. Two sisters, Mrs. Nancy Baber and Mrs. Hannah Woods, also mourn their loss. There are six grand-children and four great-grand-children. The good wife and mother passed to the other shore about a year ago.

In 1862 he entered the Union Army and remained in the service until the close of the rebellion. Since 1903 his home has been in Bonaparte, where he died January 19, 1913, aged eighty-three years, one month and two days.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church on Wednesday with Rev. T.L. Smith in charge. Burial in the Bonaparte cemetery.
