Intelligent, quiet, kind-hearted and home loving Ord Rankin Brown is dead, at the age of 29 years, 7 months and 25 days. His entire life was in Keosauqua. Here he was born Feb. 22, 1876, here he was married to Miss Orpha Jackson June 3, 1897 and here he died about 6 o'clock, Tuesday evening October 17, 1905, survived by his wife and his parents, the latter Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Brown, long time and highly respected residents of this place, whose only child he was, and who, along with the bereaved widow, have the heartfelt sympathy of all their acquaintances. Everybody in Keosauqua knew Ord, though of later years he had not mingled so much with people but had been more at home, because of poor health. Especially will he be missed by the younger class, those who were his companions in school and in the social events of the town.
For a year or more his health had been getting worse because of the steady drainage of Bright's diesease and only a month or so ago it wsa thought by his physician and relatives that he could scarcely survive another day, but he rallied and later became strong enough to occasionally walk down town, and seemed so much better that his wife ventured to Chicago to receive medical treatment for a serious chronic disease with which she is afflicted. But a few days ago he grew worse and went down rapidly and Monday last his condition was such that friends saw the end was at hand. However his wife arrived home in time to be at his side during his last hours, and death came peacefully at about 6 o'clock Tuesday evening of this week. The funeral will be from the residence at 2 p.m. tomorrow (Friday), the services in charge of Rev. Perkins, assisted by Rev. Hawk. The burial will be in Purdom cemetery.
