The funeral of Mrs. Eliza C. Kingsbury, whose death occurred at her home in Vernon township, Sunday, May 14th, 1905, was held at the Center Chapel Monday last at half past two o'clock. The services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Chas. E. Perkins, assisted by the Rev. J.W. Carson, pastor at the Chapel. Mrs. Kingsbury, whose maiden name was Kendall, was born in Pittsfield, Mass., Sept. 2, 1825, and was at the date of her death 79 years, 8 months and 12 days old.

She was one of a large family, six of whom passed the age of four score years, while two others bid fair to reach that age. In early life she united with the Congregational church in Pittsfield. She served for some time under the American Board of Missions as matron of a girls' boarding school among the Choctaw Indians. Miss Kendall was married to Cyrus Kingsbury, Dec. 2nd, 1867, and came to his home to be a mother to his five children. She joined the congregational church in Keosauqua by letter from the South Congregational church of Pittsfield, May 3, 1868. Mrs. Kingsbury was an invalid during the last years of her life, but was mercifully spared any great degree of physical suffering. She was an excellent woman, beloved in her family and esteemed by all who knew her.
