Death of Edward Hanan.
Edward C. Hanan, second son of Granville and Mary De Hart Hanan, was born near Mt. Sterling, Ia, Feb. 23, 1883, and passed from this life at the home of his father in Keosauqua, January 16, 1915, aged 31 years, 10 months, and 24 days.
The early years of his life were spent on the farm. In April, 1904, he went to Janesville, Wis., where he studied telegraphy. After completing his course, he began his work as a telegrapher in that state, later going to Canada where he worked for several years. The year of 1913 was spent in Alaska. While there he was stricken with tuberculosis, and returned to his home in December, where all was done that was possible to make his last days more comfortable. The deceased is survived by his father, one brother, and four sisters, who with many other relatives and friends are left to mourn their loss.
Funeral services were held at the Center Chapel, conducted by Elder Lewis of the Christian church at Keosauqua and burial was in the Chapel cemeter. The pall-bearers were Chas. Watkins, Arthur Craig, George Davis, Hector De Hart, Walter De Hart, Will Gaston, all cousins of the deceased, and music was furnished by the Christian church choir of Keosauqua.
