George Mason, a former resident of this place, passed away at his home in Rock Island June 3. The remains were brought here Wednesday. Short funeral services were conducted at the old Mason Hotel, the former home of the Masons. Thursday morning interment was made in the Bentonsport cemetery. Relatives present were his wife and sons George and Lloyd of Rock Island, son William of Memphis, Tenn.; daughter, Mrs. Fannie Kurtz and husband of Des Moines and his three brothers, Senator Wm. Mason of Chicago and Edward and Frank of Des Moines.
