Alva Delker, Age Eighteen, Claimed By Death on October 15

Many hearts were saddened Thursday morning when word was passed around that Alva Delker youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Delker, had died shortly after midnight at the family home a mile northwest of town.

The young man had been sick but a short time. Recently he had developed bowel trouble, and last Monday morning he underwent an operation for obstruction of the bowels. The operation was successfully performed, but infection had developed and he steadily sank into death. The sadness of the occasion is intensified by the fact that the father has been in poor health for several months and is now bedfast.

Alva Delker was an exemplary youth. He was clean of mind and body-a quiet, studious boy, whom to know was to love, He was a student in the local high school and popular with all his associates. His death is a sad blow to his family and is mourned by many friends.

The deceased was eighteen years, two months and three days old. He is survived by his parents, two brothers, Wilbert and Ben, and one sister, Miss Elsie.

Funeral services were held at the Farmington M.E. church, where he regularly attended Sunday School, at 11 a.m. today, Friday, the pastor, Rev. P.H. Hawk, officiating.
