Mrs. Emily Smith.

In the death of Mrs. Emily Smith, which occurred at Orange, California, on March 5, one of the oldest residents of Bonaparte ended life's pilgrimage, she having attained the age of 82 years, 9 months, 3 days.

Emily Williams was born in Freeport, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, on June 2, 1831. She grew to womanhood in the place of her birth and there, on July 19, 1349, was joined in marriage to Ernest Smith. The couple came to Iowa in 1865, residing for a short while in Keokuk, them coming to Bonaparte. To their union ten children were bron, six of whom preceded their mother in death, three dying in infancy. The husband and father passed away in Bonaparte, Iowa, on April 12, 1876.
