BENJAMIN A. STARR
Benjamin Asa Starr, son of Jacob and Rachel (Maltbie) Starr, both deceased, was born in Ohio, Nov. 30, 1856, and died at his home in Detroit May 16, 1928. He came to Keosauqua when 21 years of age. At that place he was married to Clara Eliza Swasey Feb. 10, 1880. To this union were born five children, all of whom with his wife remain to mourn their loss.
In his early manhood he united with the Chritian church at Keosauqua, later transferring his membership to the Christian church at Wyaconda, Mo., where he, with his family, resided for twenty years, and finally to the Woodward Ave. Christian church at Detroit where he and his wife have resided the past 10 years.
He gave untiringly of his time to the care of his wife who has been an invalid a number of years. He was unusually active for a man of his years, going about his work until two days prior to his death, when he was stricken with pnuemonia which with a heart attack proved fatal. He has gone to his reward, but his memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Those who survived are his wife, Clara E. Starr, one son, Charles A. Starr of Detroit, four daughters, Mrs. Chas. Wilson, and Mrs. S.J. Raine of Detroit, Mrs. Walter Snyder of Chicago and Mrs. Harry Steffey of Basco, Ill.
