On Thursday morning, Nov. 5, 1908, about 7 o'clock, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Burton Shores, wife of the late Henry Shores, died at her home in Keosauqua, aged 55 years, 7 months and 8 days. She was born in Keosauqua, Iowa, March 27, 1853, and here all her life was passed

On September 30, 1879, she married Henry Shores, who died about two months ago. To this union four children were born, two dying in infancy. Two survive, Lawrence E. and Eva J, who made their home with their mother and who cared for her during her long sickness with consumption.

She was a member of the Congregational church and was a faithful attendant at services there as long as she was able to go. Mrs. Shores was a loving mother and kind neighbor and was held in high respect by her acquaintances. She will be missed by the people of this place where she lived for over half a century. The children Lawrence and Eva, have the sincere sympathy of their acquaintances in their affliction.

The funeral was from the residence at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 6, Rev. W.G. Thorn of the M.E. church in charge of the services. The burial was in the Purdom cemetery.
