Anna Katharine Lane, daughter of Alonzo and Kate Lane, was born at Mt.Sterling, Iowa, Jan. 15, 1881, and died at Keosauqua, Aug. 15, 1911, at the age of 30 years and 7 months. Anna grew to womanhood on the farm four miles southeast of Keosauqua. She graduated from the Keosauqua high school with the class of 1900.

She had lived in Keosauqua for seven years. Anna was a christian from babyhood and united with the Methodist Episcopal church when she was 13 years old. She lived a devoted christian life, true toher Christ and the church. She had been in declining health for some years and had anxiously waited the time when God would call her home.

She was preceded in the heavenly land by her father and one sister. There remain to mourn her death, her mother, four sisters and three brothers. Besides these are a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. C.A. Field, her pastor, and Rev. Geo. L. Minear, a long time friend, were held at the home and interment was mad in the Purdom cemetery.

Softly, Life's earthly day for her is done,
Now dawns her bright eternal morning;
Living, she did in faith the christian's journey run;
Dying, confident, peaceful was she, all doubt and terror scorning.
