BIRMINGHAM - Lilly (Billie) Elliott, 83, of Birmingham, died at 8:10 p.m. Wednesday at Parkview Manor Care Center at Wellman where she had lived since 1981.
She was born March 16, 1903, at Harmon, Ill., the daughter of James H. and Georgia A. Dewey Dale, and lived in Shelbyville, Mo., before moving to the Batavia and Fairfield area.
She was married to George (Bill) Elliott on Aug. 15, 1924 in Webster City.
The Elliotts owned and operated the Batavia Tourist Court and Cafe in the 1940s. She also had been employed at the Brown Lynch Scott store in Fairfield.
After 22 years in the Long Beach, Calif., area, she returned to Iowa in 1977 to reside with her daughter, the late Eileen Wilson of Birmingham.
She was a member of Zion Bible Church near Douds. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two granddaughters, Jolaine Rogers of Kansas City, Mo., and Berneil Wren of Dallas, Texas; one grandson, Kendrick Wilson of Birmingham; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Georgia Hodges of Lamar, Mo.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with the Rev. Walter Shuka officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to First Responders of Birmingham or the Birmingham Public Library.
