SUDDEN DEATH OF HARRISON BLACKLEDGE

Without warning and with not a perceptible struggle, Harrison Blackledge one of the old settlers and widely known residents of Van Buren county, died about 6:30 o'clock Tuesday morning of this week at his home in Keosauqua. He had been down town the day previous and attended to business at his office and appeared in his usal health, which was not the best, as he had been afflicted with chronic heart trouble for years, and that caused his death.

He enjoyed his supper and retired at the usual time Monday night. Sometime following his retirement, he awoke and asked his wife for his heart medicine, which he kept and took at times. She gave it to him and he made no complaint of feeling worse than usual. Both went to sleep again, and when Mrs. Blackledge woke a short time later, her husband was dead. He had passed peacefully to the world beyond.

Mr. Blackledge was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, 71 years ago April 8, last, came to Iowa and Van Buren county when five years of age. His first wife, whose maiden name was Ann E. Nichols, died a number of years ago. His second wife, who was Cordia J. Brown, survives. One child, Herbert E. Blackledge, by his first marriage, resides here and was in partnership with his father in the real estate business.

Mr. Blackledge will be greatly missed by his host of friends and acquaintances, for he took an active and earnest interest in all public affairs.

The funeral will be form the M.E. church at 2 p.m. Thursday of this week with Rev. Field in charge of the services. The burial will be in the Purdom cemetery. An obituary will be published next week.
