SCOTT, BARNETT, MILLER

Joseph Warren, eldest child of Samuel and Matilda Scott, was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, Oct. 1, 1840, and departed this life Friday, May 26, 1911, aged 70 years, 7 months and 25 days. Feb. 28, 1965, he was united in marriage to Amelia G. Barnett and to this union there were born five children, three of whom, with the wife and mother, survive.

There are also left to mourn his death ten brothers and sisters and sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The deceased was a member of the I.O.O.F. and the Masonic fraternities. He was also a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. In 1861, he enlisted in Co. A, 7th regiment, Mo. Calvary. In this he served three years when he was honorably discharged.

The children who remain to mourn their loss are as follows: G.C. Scott of Keokuk, Iowa; Roy and Mrs. Cora Miller of Mansfield, Washington. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church at Bentonsport on Monday afternoon, May 29, at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Herbert Taylor, of Ottumwa, pastor of the church. Interment was made in the Bentonsport.
