JOHN TREBILCOCK.
John Trebilcock was bron Nov. 18, 1824, in Cornwell, Eng., and died Aug. 28, 1910, at his home near Mt. Zion, Iowa, aged 85 years, 9 months and 10 days. He came to this country when 9 years old, settling with his parents in Morgan county, Ohio. In 1839, he moved to Athens county where he was married to Louisa Wyman January 4, 1846, and together they lived happily for 64 years, the wife surviving.
They settled on a farm near Keosauqua 55 years ago where they resided until the last 15 years when they located at the home between Keosauqua and Mt. Zion, which has since been their home.
The deceased was always religiously inclined. His parents were members of the Church of England and he spent the early part of his lie in connection with the Episcopal church and later he became a member of the United Brethren denomination. His responses to prayer during the last few months, when the writer of this visted him, indicated a warm, christian heart bouyed by a strong hope of the future and better life. His devoted wife was ever at his side to comfort him with her care to the end.
The only child left to mourn his death is their son Perry of Keosauqua, who was at the side of the father in his sickness and death, along with the loving wife and mother. The funeral was from the residence at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday forenoon, Rev. W.G. Thorn of Keosauqua in charge of the services. The burial was in the Oak Lawn cemetery at Keosauqua.
