George Anthony Perkins was born in Van Buren county, Io., Sept. 17, 1864, and died May 11, 1905, aged 40 years, 7 months and 24 days. He was the third son of Augustine S. and Roda M. Perkins. His early life was spent at the parental home near Utica where he grew to manhood. He was married to Isabell May Warner, April 17, 1884. To this union were born four children: Emily G., Lillie N., Augustine E. and Ira Lester. Lillie passed to the better land when four months old. In 1886 deceased moved with his family to a farm near Bloomfield, Iowa, and lived there two years, afterward moving back to Van Buren county, and in the fall of 1898 moved to Keosauqua and engaged in business for one year, moving thence to the old home farm where they remained until 1903 when he and family moved to Lewiston, Idaho, thinking the mountain climate would benefit the health of himself and wife. Failing in this they returned to Van Buren county, April 17, 1905, where they lived until the time of his death. Besides his family there are left to mourn their loss his aged mother, two brothers, Francis Perkins of Mt. Zion and Dr. Lewis J. Perkins of Lewiston, Idaho, and one sister, Mary A. Rowe of Keokuk, all of whom were present at the funeral except the brother in Idaho. He was loving father and kind husband, always taking a deep interest in the welfare of his family, generous and always ready to do a kindess to his family, generous and always ready to do a kindness to his friends and neighbors. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The funeral services were conducted at the Free Baptist church at Utica by Rev. Tibbets and the body was laid to rest in Dibble cemetery.
