Amos M. Eager was born in Orange county, New York, June 3, 1837, and died at his home in Vernon township, Van Buren county, Iowa, April 17, 1906, aged 68 yrs., 10 mos. and 14 days. Early in life he united with the Presbyterian church, of which he was a faithful, consistent member. In 1862 he enlisted in the 124th New York Infantry, serving until the end of the war, when he received an honorable discharge. He was united in marriage to Susan A. Collard, Feb. 17, 1874. To this union were born two sons, John L. and Wm. B., both of whom with his wife survive. He also leaves two brothers who reside in Michigan. About three years ago he changed his church membership to the Center Chapel, M.E. congregation. Blindness gradually came to him so that for three years he was unable to do any labot of any kind, but bore the great affliction with patience. Services held at the home. He was laid to rest in the cemetery at Center Chapel, Rev. J.W. Carson in charge of the services.
