Mrs. Carrie Barber, wife of Rev. G.W. Barber of the Iowa Conference, Methodist Episcopal church, died at the parsonage in Unionville, Iowa, Monday, June 25, 1906, aged 55 years, 1 month and 6 days. Carrie Kean, daughter of J.A. and Elizabeth Kean, was born in Bonaparte May 19, 1851. She grew to womanhood in the town of her nativity and was educated in the schools of that place. She was married to G.W. Barber in Bonaparte, Nov. 28, 1871. To their union one son was born. She was converted January, 1866, in a meeting held by Rev. C.G. Milnes and united with the Methodist church and for nearly 24 years she shared with him the joys and privations of the itinerant's home and work.
They served the following charges: Keosauqua ciruit, 2 years, Bentonsport, 2 years, Pulaski, 2 years, Selma 5 years, Eldon 2 years, Taintor and Lacey, 1 year Kossuth 1 year, Farmington 3 years, Drakeville 2 years, Libertyville 2 years, Unionville 2 years. She leaves to mourn for her a husband, one son, a mother and two sisters. Funeral services were held in Unionville, Iowa, June 26, after which her remains were taken to Bonaparte, where on Wednesday, June 27, funeral services were conducted by Presiding Elder A.V. Kendrick and pastor G.H. Wehn. Her body was laid to rest by the side of her father in the cemetery.
