Mrs. A.C. Burton.

Abigail Clarkson Freeman was born at Hamilton, Ohio, August 6, 1823, and died September 21, 1906, aged 83 years, one month, and 15 days. She emigrated to the territory of Wisconsin 9which is now Iowa) at the age of 15, and in her 17th years was married to John Wesley Burton, Nov. 26, 1839.

They settled on the farm one mile west of Bentonsport where they resided until Mr. Burton's death 15 years ago. She was the mother of ten children, six of whom have preceded her to the land beyond.

Mrs. Burton was a woman of sunny, cheerful disposition, always companionable to the young as well as the old. If there is a person living who ever spoke ill of Mrs. Burton the writer, who has known her for sixteen years, has never heard of it. About three years ago she was stricken with paralysis from which she never fully recovered and several recurring attacks finally so impaired her health, and living in constant fear of those "spells," she often expressed a wish to died and he at rest.

Mrs. Burton's release came Friday at noon September 21, at the summer home of her daughter, Miss Martha, at Mr. Pleasant Park near Clinton, Iowa, where she had gone for a month's visit. A funeral service, simple and sweet, was held under the trees at the park at 2 P.M. Saturday and on Sunday morning her daughter left Clinton with her mother's remains, reaching home Monday noon.

The funeral service was held at the Presbyterian church at 2 P.M. Rev. C.S. McElhinney speaking from the text "The Age of Man." The pall bearers were Messrs. Isaac McCracken, James McCrary, Geo. W. Jack, A. McDonald, J.L. Sweard, and W.H. (missing)
