Charles C. Cone, who had been engaged for 15 years in the barber business in Keosauqua, died at 9:45 o'clock Monday evening January 23, 1905, of Bright's disease. His health had been failing for the past year but he attended to business until about four weeks ago when he was compelled to give it up. Death came peacefully, though he suffered considerably during the weeks preceding the last few days of his sickness.

The deseased(sp) was born in New London, Conn., April 26, 1851, and on May 12, 1880, at Fort Arthur, Kansas, he was married to Miss Katharine Ormsby, who with one child, Charles E. Cone, survives. Another child born to them died in infancy.

Mr. Cone was an industrious and genial gentleman and popular with his acquaintances. he liked his business and was efficient in it. His familiar face will be greatly missed in Keosauqua and many are the friends who will mourn for him.

Sincere sympathy goes from our people to the afflicated(sp) wife and son. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2 o'clock p.m. at the residence, Rev. Chas. E. Perkins of the Congregational church, of which denomination Mr. Cone was a member, being in charge of the services. The burial was in the Purdom cemetery.
