Edgar Standley Rites Thursday

Last rites for Edgar R. Standley, 68, former Fairfield resident, will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Big Cedar Christian Church near Stockport with the Rev. James Ford officiating.

Standley died Monday night at St. Joseph Hospital in Centerville. Burial will be in Spencer Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home.

Standley was born Oct. 27, 1904 in Van Buren County, the son of William and Cynthia Coltrane Standley. He was married July 5, 1924 to Alma Brown.

He lived in Fairfield for many years where he was employed by the city water and light department. He moved to Oelwein in 1944 and resided there until last year when he retired and established his home in Centerville.

Surviving are his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Eva Ellen Anhorn, West Des Moines; one son, Bill R. Standley, Havelock. N.C.; six grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ben Giberson, Stockport.
