"God calls his loved ones, but we lose not wholly what he hath given. They live on earth, in thought and deed, us truly as in His heaven."

How true are these words the wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend has put on immortality, and the cold form will soon be in the embrace of mother earth, but the kind words, deeds and the good influence will live for many decades.

The suject(sp) of this sketch has been interviewed by the writer many times and her suffering which was of long duration and which seemed almost unbearable, never took the hope and kindness from her life.

The principal link in the family chain has been severed. The little house is no broken; no one can sympathize with the broken hearted husband except the one who knows how to heal the broken hearted.

God in his wisdom has relieved her and taken her home to her reward. Martha Mathews was born in Preston County, West Virginia Aug. 3, 1829 and departed this life Dec. 4, 1903 being 73 years, 7 months and 29 days.

Sept. 28, 1848 she was married to James Robinson.

To this union eight children were born, all of which have crossed the Dark River except two, Waltman Robinson and Nettie Bradford.

Seventeen grandchildren are left also to mourn the loss of her.

In 1854 she united with the M.E. Church and has lived consistently with the rules of the church and in the fear of God.

The early years of Mrs. Robinsons' life was spent in Virginia. In 1868, she with family removed to Vernon where she peacefully passed away.

Blessed are the dead who died in teh Lord.

Let us not mourn for our departed one Her long suffering is o'er. Her body knows no pain. She is at rest.

The funeral service was conducted in the M.E. church at Vernon Dec. 6th at 2 p.m. by her pastor.

After which her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near by.
