Died at his home in Henry township, on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1902, Mr. Isaac Marriott, aged 64 years, 5 months and 12 days. The deceased was born in Hamilton county, Ohio, Sept. 6, 1837. In 1845 his father removed to Iowa and settled on a farm near Vernon, in this county, where the boy Isaac grew to strong, earnest manhood. August 14, 1862, he enlisted in Company I. Nineteenth Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry and served until honorably discharged, July 10, 1865, on account of the close of the war. His army record is in the highest degree honorable and one that will be cherished as a precious legacy by his sons and their families. November 23, 1865, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary C. McConnell, who survives him. To this union were born seven children, five sons and two daughters, of whom one son and two daughters had preceded him in death. Six years ago he was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Vernon under the pastoral care of Rev. Renix Weese. The funeral was held at Center Chapel on Thursday afternoon, Feb. 20, with religious services conducted by the Rev. C.W. Wilson of Bussey, Iowa, assisted by the church choir. The closing ceremony at the grave was conducted by Shriver Post G.A.R., of which the deceased was an honored member.
