John Wesley Brown, 83, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 12, at his home in Bonaparte, after a long illness.

A native of Missouri, Mr. Brown was born Jan. 5, 1881, the son of Samuel and Katherine Bennett Brown. He was married to Iowa Kirsch at Bonaparte on Nov. 6, 1907.

Mr. Brown settled in Bonaparte 21 years ago, moving here from Chicago. He had been employed in a print shop and also as a carpenter.

Besides the widow, Mr. Brown is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ada Ellery Boyer of Hammond, Ind.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A son and two daughters died previously, as did one sister.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Bonaparte Baptist Church, Rev. Eugene Shipp will officiate. Burial will be in Bonaparte Cemetery.
