Daniel K. Kittle, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. Wilkin, in Keosauqua, Feb. 24, 1899, aged 72 years, 6 months and 22 days. He was born in Hamilton county, Ohio, August 2, 1826. In the spring of 1854 he came to Iowa and settled at Iowaville, and in November of that year was united in marriage with Miss Lavinia McCullough, of this county, who died several years ago. There were born to them eight children, of whom five are now living. Sixty years ago he united with the M.E. church and ever afterwards lived a devoted Christian life. From the spring of 1854 until 1872 he was a teacher in the public schools of this county. In the fall of 1872 he was elected county recorder which position he filled for sixteen years. He also served one year as deputy county treasurer. He was a faithful and efficient official, a devoted husband and parent, and a man held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. The funeral services were held in the Christian church at 2 o’clock Sunday, February 26, his pastor, Rev. Patterson, preaching, who was assisted by Eld. Hendrickson, from whence the remains were taken to the Purdom cemetery and laid beside the wife who preceded him to the world beyond.
