The funeral for the late Mrs. P.B. Pettit was held yesterday afternoon at 2 oclock from the family residence, No. 123 South Fifth street. Rev. John Moran, formerly of this city, but now of Cedar Rapids conducted the services. The interment was in Aspen Grove cemetery.

The deceased was Miss Deborah Florence Steele. She was born in Ohio in 1823 and in 1851 she was united in marriaged to J.B. Pettit, accompanying her husband to this state in 1852. Twenty-one years later they moved to Burlington and since that time their home has been in this city.

The deceased was a member of the Free Methodist church, a woman of strong character and an active worker for that which was good and noble. Her acts of charity and kindness were many though always carried out modestly and quietly.

Mr. and Mrs. Pettit were the parents of seven children: Mrs. J.C. Foley of Denver, Mrs. Wright Clark, Mrs. Winifred Smith, A.L. Pettit, Mrs. James Leng, Mrs. George Brown, J.R. Pettit, all residents of Burlington. Her sister, Mrs. F.E. Marriott, of Princeton, Missouri, ws her for the funeral services.
