Hazel A. McIntosh

Hazel A. McIntosh, 86, of Keosauqua died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Mill Pond Retirement Community in Ankeny.

The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church with the Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Burial will be in Miller Chapel cemetery northeast of Keosauqua.

Friends may call 2-8 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. The family will receive friends at the church between 2-3 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to Keosauqua United Methodist Church.

Mrs. McIntosh was born March 14, 1914, near Betonsport, the daughter of Noah and Amy McCracken Ward. She married Russell McIntosh May 5, 1934. He died in 1959.

She graduated from Keosauqua High as valedictorian of the class of 1932, and lived her adult life in Keosauqua.

She was associated with her husband in their plumbing and electric business in Keosauqua, owned and operated the Keosauqua coin laundry, worked at Farmers Co-op Creamery and as receptionist/bookkeeper for Dr. R.W. Gustafson.

She was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Keosauqua Book Club.

Survivors include two daughter, Jo Ann Zimmerman of West Des Moines and Sandra Cullen of Des Moines; one son, James McIntosh of McKinney, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Alva Ward of Bonaparte.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dorothy McIntosh; two sisters, Mary Willits and Tina Ewing; and one brother, James Ward.
