Sudden Death.

News of the death of Thos. M. Lowry, at West Point, last Saturday, surprised our citizens on Sunday morning when the telegram arrived. He had suddenly taken ill Friday evening and died the next day. This is indeed a sad blow to Mrs. Lowry, who has the sympathy of our entire community.

Thomas McPhearson Lowry was born in Carrol Co., near Carleton, Mo., July 22, 1868, and died at West Point, Ia., Saturday, July 2, 1898, aged 29 years, 11 months and 11 days.

He was married at Gault, Mo., in 1891, to Miss Minnie C. Pierce, and, with her, he leaves a mother, six half-brothers and a host of friends to mourn his untimely death.

The remains were removed to Wheeling, Mo., the home of his mother, where interment took place at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning.

Mr. Lowry and his estimable wife made their home in Bonaparte for some time, and his pleasant, generous disposition made him numberless [sic?] friends. He was a member of the M. E. church at this place and a tireless worker for its prosperity.
