Elmer Hall dies at 74

BIRMINGHAM - Elmer A. Hall, 74, of rural Birmingham, died Sunday evening at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City where he had been a patient for two days.

Services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Birmingham United Methodist Church with the Rev. David R. Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. The family will meet with friends Tuesday, 7 to 8 p.m., at Burch Funeral Home. Memorials to Brimingham United Methodist Church may be left at the funeral home.

Hall was born Oct. 15, 1906 near Birmingham, the son of Adolph and Nettie Bailey Hall. On March 3, 1935, he married Verle Lyon at Fairfield. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Larry of Fairfield, Dean of Stockport, Rex of Birmingham, Donald of Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Roberta Sieber of New York, N.Y., Letty Hall, Independence, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Robert Hall of Birmingham, and a sister, Madge Hall of Portland, Ore. A grandson and a sister preceded him in death.

Hall was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, Brimingham Lions Club with a 12-year perfect attendance record. Friendly Folks and Bonnett Community Club. He was a longtime township trustee.
